Okay, this is not an exaggeration: Ligia and Jeff’s Destination Wedding at Prospect Park Boathouse might be my favorite wedding I’ve ever photographed. We’re talking Brooklyn in late May, perfect weather, a dreamy historic venue in the middle of Prospect Park, and a couple that radiated love and intentionality! From the minute I walked into their hotel suite to the final moments of the night, I had this overwhelming sense of “I cannot believe this is my job.” Every detail felt personal, elegant, and full of heart. Truly one of those days where you look around and think, this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Ligia and Jeff are the type of people who fully get it. They cared about their photos, yes, but even more than that they cared about the feeling of the day. From the start, they were grounded in what mattered: being present, soaking in their people, and celebrating their love in a way that felt like them. They told me afterward that they could have easily hired a local New York photographer, but what sold them was the way I showed up for them, my energy on the call, my excitement about their story, and how much I genuinely wanted to be there. That meant the world to me! And honestly, that kind of trust makes for the best photos, when a couple fully lets you in.
Can we talk about the design for a second? From the florals to the tablescapes to the way the ceremony space was set up, every single part of the day felt like a page out of a modern editorial spread! The Prospect Park Boathouse already has this gorgeous, vintage-meets-European charm, and they leaned all the way in. The color palette was soft and romantic with subtle, elevated touches. The florals looked like they’d been plucked straight from a garden somewhere in Tuscany. Every little thing was so thoughtful, but never overdone. It felt effortless, and as a photographer, that’s where the magic lives.
One of the things I loved most about this wedding was the vibe. You’ve got the buzz of New York in the background, taxis, park-goers, that city hum. But the actual venue felt like a hidden pocket of calm. It was the perfect blend of city energy and intimate celebration. Ligia and Jeff’s people brought such a special energy with them too. They were kind, fun, and fully invested in the moment. There were tears during toasts, nonstop smiles on the dance floor, and an overwhelming feeling of joy all day long. The city gave us its best, and this group made it unforgettable.
This Destination Wedding at Prospect Park Boathouse checked every single box for me: an intentional couple, a beautiful location, heartfelt energy, and a full trust-vibe between all of us. I’d travel again (and again, and again) for weddings like this. The connection, the freedom to create, and the emotion packed into every moment… I’ll never stop chasing that! If you’re planning something that’s more about real love and less about the rules, I’m already ready to go. I will match your energy and make your day a priority so we can build something beautiful!
